Temple Beth Shalom Funds:

Barbara Keshin Wingrove Adult Education Fund

The Barbara Keshin Wingrove Trust established this Adult Education Fund. The purpose of the Barbara Keshin Wingrove Adult Education Fund is to provide a broad range of opportunities to enhance knowledge of Jewish tradition, texts, and culture and to promote a lifelong commitment to learning. 

Capital Improvement Fund 

The purpose of the Capital Improvement Fund is to establish a capital reserve for the anticipated replacement of major building systems and infrastructure.  

Early Childhood Program Fund 

The purpose of the Early Childhood Program Fund is to provide financial support for the educational program and for physical enhancements or improvements to the infrastructure that will enrich the experience of the pre-school children of Temple Beth Shalom. Such programming may include activities for children enrolled in the Early Childhood Program (ECP) as well as other activities for pre-school children of member families.

General Fund

General Fund provides the ability to run the day to day operations of the temple and of its programs under the supervision of the Board of Trustees and in accordance with the annual budget.

Jane Elliott Music Fund 

The Music Fund is established in memory of Jane K. Elliott by her daughter Mary West and her son Steven Elliott in honor of her lifelong love of music and her many years of participation in choir singing.

The purposes of the Music Fund are:

  • supplementing the temple budget when hiring a permanent, fulltime cantor or cantor/educator as described in the temple bylaws article on clergy. Money from this fund shall be disbursed for this purpose only during the first 2 years of that cantor’s tenure at Temple Beth Shalom. The temple budget shall fully cover the cantor’s compensation after the first 2 years.
  • hiring a guest cantor and members of the Annapolis Chorale (or other singers) for High Holy Day services.
  • inviting guest musicians to enhance occasional Shabbat evening services
  • sponsoring special musical performances for the congregation and the local Jewish community. Money from this fund may be disbursed to supply no more than half of such event cost, with income from ticket sales or other fundraising supplying the majority of the costs.

Miriam Luby Wolfe Scholarship Fund 

The Miriam Luby Wolfe Scholarship Fund was established by Rosemary Mild and her family in memory of her daughter after Miriam was killed in the bombing of Pan Am flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland in 1988. It is a permanent fund of Temple Beth Shalom.

The Miriam Luby Wolfe Scholarship Fund is an award givent to a high school student whose family is a member of Temple Beth Shalom that demonstrate(s) involvement in Judaism and Temple Beth Shalom, high academic achievement, social awareness, and a passion and dedication for the arts or other endeavors.  The other purpose of the scholarship fund is a need-based scholarship for a Religious School student.  

Prayer Book and Torah Scroll Fund 

The purpose of the Prayer Book Fund is to purchase Shabbat and holiday prayer books (including Shabbat siddurim, High Holy Day machzorim, S’lichot books, Pesach haggadot, and shiva books) and other books for use during worship services (such as chumashim).  Money from this fund may also be used to repair Temple Beth Shalom’s Torah scrolls, on the recommendation of the rabbi and with the approval of the Board of Trustees.

Security Fund 

The purpose of the Security Fund is to pay for physical security measures and equipment and armed private security personnel that provide enhanced safety and security for the temple.  These measures enable better preparation for and defense against a potential attack or hate crime.

Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund  

The Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund provides an opportunity to make donations directed to the Rabbi which are then used at their discretion.
